Voices of the Airlift
Submission Guidelines
Length
I am looking for stories that are:
between 500 - 1500 words
no longer than 3000 words
If you have a much longer story or creative piece that spans many pages, I may select an excerpt for the book and offer the full version online as a supplement.
Format
Typed narrative format (paragraphs, not bullet points)
Stories may reflect personal experiences, family memories, military involvement, or civilian life during the time of the Berlin Airlift.
Contributions are welcome in English or German.

If you’d like a few questions to guide your story, just let me know. I am happy to share a short list of prompts based on your background—whether you’re a veteran, civilian, child of someone who lived through the Airlift, or simply inspired by its history.
I’d Love to Hear from You by July 30, 2025
To help me keep things moving. I’d appreciate receiving your contribution by July 30th, 2025. That gives me time to review, translate (if needed), and prepare the layout for the book. If you need more time, please let me know—this date can be adjusted based on individual needs or schedules.
Important Notes
All contributors will be asked to sign a contributor agreement.
If you’d like to share photos, letters, or other materials with your story, I may include them if space and layout allow.
You will be able to choose how your name appears in the book: full name, pen name, initial, or anonymous.
You may also indicate how you wish to be identified in terms of your connection to the Airlift (e.g., ‘Airlift child in Berlin’, ‘Airlift veteran’, ‘Daughter of an Airlift pilot’, etc…)
I reserve the right to decide whether a story will be included in the final publication.
